Should I Still Visit Thailand’s Red Light Districts
COVID-19 Thailand – Should I Still Come?
Before this coronavirus mess blew up around the world I was thinking if I should write this post about whether or not you should still visit the major red light districts of Thailand.
In Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, bars and massage shops were ordered to shut down until the end of this month. I don’t think these places will close down as these businesses have some sort of police in place to protect their own interest. Who knows what else the Thai government is going to suggest next.
Good news as I can see the bar districts in Bangkok are taking a proactive stance. Visitors go through a temperature check and those with high temperatures are barred from entering. I was near the entrance of Nana Plaza having a cold one at Hooters.
I didn’t see anyone get turned away. It’s a good front though. Problem is, COVID-19 is asymptomatic. The disease takes time to manifest. Anyone could be a carrier and not know about it until WHAM! You’re on your back bleeding from you asshole!
Just kidding.
I’m a massage guy anyways and as I’m getting older, I don’t enjoy crowded noisy bars today. I’ve checked around and asked my favorite massage parlors and they said they will remain open for now. But that could change in the near future. So if you’re dead set on coming to Thailand you’ll have less choice of pussy for sale. But it’s still available non the less.
If you’re here already or anytime between the end of this month, I’d call the massage shop up first and see if they’re open. Before showing up at their doorstep.
Gogo bars inside Nana and Soi Cowboy are still open. But the government has ordered bars to be closed until the end of March. Not sure if the bars will follow the order but we shall see. But eerily quiet the last time I went. And it’ll be quiet for awhile from the looks of things.
I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU SAY, I’M STILL GOING TO THAILAND
Personally, I don’t give two shits if you still want to visit and risk getting infected with this superbug. I honestly think you’ll have more chance catching a disease at the airport than here in Thailand. That’s what I really think. But I know that makes me sound like a dick. And I am, your approval is unnecessary.
But listen to your ol’ buddy Jim Hunt. Quarantine yourself by staying home and jerk off until this blows over. Cause it will.

Jimmy, Jimmy, wassup!
Really bummed here, bro. Have tix and hotel all set up for late Sept, but not looking likely given all the travel bubble BS I’m hearing, Also would be transiting thru Singapore and really don’t need to get quarantined in Changi for 2 weeks. Been watching YouTube vids lately and it seems a lot has reopened but a midnight closing time is rather non-conducive to hobbying. Really hope I can make it this year as it looks like the pickings would be monumental given dearth of mongers and lowlifes on the scene. Leave all the fly honeys to this guy! Any idea if the soapies will ever open again tho?
Regardless, gimme Thermae, Smooci, 7 Heaven and a few beer bars, BJ joints and Agogos and I’ll be in Heaven, bro. Missing you, BKK. Never change!

Hey JV, yeah things have certainly changed. For me I’m taking advantage of the amount of freelancers available. Even though red light districts have sort of opened it’s still really slow going for those types of businesses. Who knows what the government will be planning or what sort of hoops needed jumped for visitors planning to come here. All I can just say is sit tight.
I do know Thailand’s nightlife will be back. Life goes on. People forget. Question will be when will that happen. Cheers

Whats up!? From the looks of the news coming out August is a possibility. But as of now travelers will need insurance that covers COVID. But who knows it might change otherwise by August.

Thinking about visiting around Christmas time. Any signs if everything will be back to “normal” by then?

I would think so. As long as the world gets COVID under control. So we can only hope for the best!

It’s always great to read your blog as every time I find something new. Hoping that the current situation will rectify promptly & Thailand will recoup its original charm.
Can’t wait to read those Jim Hunt’s exclusive reviews of Massage parlors & bars.
Will Hope for the best.

Hey Micky, thanks, I’m glad you enjoy my experiences. Me too, it’s sort of a drag now and like the saying goes you never know you miss something when it’s gone. I rather get out and seeing what’s out there than getting girls to my house. You ever try to take a shit in the bathroom of your bedroom with a complete stranger. You know, you gotta keep your asshole tight and quiet, so you won’t gross out a prostitute. That’s me. Let’s all hope for the best together. Cheers!

Hi – how are things in BK now? Are there any guide lines when bars and massage shops can open again? Cheers Mike K

Hey Mike, sorry for late reply. According to the news bars and entertainment districts will open in middle of June, as long as there are no new cases or big spikes of COVID. Massage shops with “extras” are starting to open but you should call to make sure they are open the day you are going in. Because most sex workers are still out of town I believe and there’s a temporary shortage.
There’s definitely a shortage of tourists as most understandably don’t want to take the risk of arriving too soon. I’d wait it out a little longer, possibly August perhaps.

Hi Jimmy,
Great blog, I really enjoy it. I have flights for BKK for mid July, how does it look things are gonna be there by then? I can’t change the flights, that’s why I’m asking.
Cheers!

Hey John so bars and entertainment districts have a reopen date of mid June. As long as there are no large spikes of COVID infections. I think things will be slow going, meaning sex bars and massage shops with extras will take some time to get back to business as usual. Good news is if you’re here in mid July and sex businesses are in full gear you won’t have a lot of competition.

Have you any update as of April 18th. I’m sure that there are plenty of girls with rents to pay and family to support and I believe few chances to work. Are there government supports in operation ? How long will these girls survive before the situation becomes a crisis

Nothing to update. All types of businesses are closed. There is action to be found on the streets but your time will be limited as there’s a 10pm curfew. Normal types of businesses are opening back up May 1st. However, bar biz and the likes are to remain closed till further notice. I’d wait a little while before visiting.
Nope, there’s no government support for sex workers because technically it’s an illegal line of work. How long they will survive depends on how young and pretty they are. That’s the truth.
The gov’t here does little for their average citizens overall.

Hi Jimmy I hope you are keeping well. In terms of soapies these were on the decline last time I was over is this the final nail in their coffin or are they still doing business during Covid-19? I was due to be over there now but am hoping to reschedule for October time, hopefully this has all blown over by then
Jimmy
April 19, 2020 @ 7:06 pm
Nope, they’re not in business. Will they be back up? Not sure. This virus has caused lots of irreparable damage. Good call to wait until October. Cheers Steve

How does Chiang Mai compare to Bangkok? I was thinking of trying to venture further afield on this visit the hotels seem alot cheaper and it would do me good to see I have seen some more of the sights.

Hey Steve, currently with so few visitors in Chiang Mai, with reopening of bars, you’ll have a clear playing field. But the scene in Chiang Mai is much smaller than Bangkok and Pattaya.
